Simon

Ever since poor little Simon came to Peanut Pet Shelter as an undernourished pup, he has battled health issues. No-one ‘rescued’ him, he simply showed up at our gate and waited patiently until he was let in. He was dirty, emaciated, full of internal parasites and his body was covered in open, bleeding sores.

In time he grew physically stonger but keeping weight on him was a challenge and his fungal skin problem stubbornly refused to clear. Unlike Haley, whose black skin was tough and scaley, Simon’s pink skin was oversensitive and prone to breaking out in huge sores which would quickly become infected.

Following on from the same sesame oil and apple cider vinegar treatment used so successfully on Haley, we are thrilled that for the first time Simon has skin which is soft and clear and fine hairs are beginning to appear.

We were so happy that after almost a year, this sweet, gentle, timid little boy was finally going to become as beautiful on the outside as he has always been in spirit.

Sadly he now has a tumour. It is on the side of his face near his mouth and it is visibly growing daily. These photos were taken just 2 weeks ago – the tumour is on the side facing the camera and yet at that time there was no sign of a problem.

Simon is just 15 months old and he has never had a day of being comfortable in his own skin, yet his gentle nature always prevails.

After such a long battle, we can’t just give up the fight, so for the next 5 days he is taking a course of antibiotics and then he will start chemotherapy.

If you have a moment to say a little prayer or send out some positive vibes, we’re sure little Simon would appreciate it!

Will a Vet try to remove some of the tumor? I know it is in a very difficult spot. I ache for these poor babies that are so sweet, yet never get a chance to know what it’s like to feel really good. I hope Simon gets a chance to live with a nice family someday.
Crossing my fingers for you little guy.

Our vet feels it should shrink with chemotherapy as it is such a new tumour, so we’re hoping he’s right! This is such a sweet dog and would make someone a wonderful pet.
