PPS Pet OF The Day – Finn

posted by:

Finn is a tiny dog that has been with us for a few months now. He had been roaming the streets for some time as part of a pack of much larger street dogs who were often quite aggressive towards him, which has left him a little wary of other male dogs. Prior to arriving at PPS, we feel that Finn probably had never experienced human contact. Attempts to socialize him have proved very successful but he is still a dog that would require plenty of one-to-one time and patience. Once you have gained his trust, he is extremely loving and loyal.

If you have the love and time to give to Finn, a tiny dog with a big heart, please contact us at info@peanutpetshelter.org

PPS Pet Of The Day – Tao

posted by:

Tao is another recent arrival from Akumal Animal Rescue. Lucy found Tao as a puppy in 2002, starving in the nearby jungle. He had advanced sarcoptic and demodectic mange and had no fur at all. Although he is now 8 years old, Tao is very playful and without a doubt one of the best natured, most loving dogs you could ever hope to meet! Finding suitable homes for older dogs is always a challenge as understandably, most people prefer a puppy or young dog that can grow and develop within their family unit. Whilst Tao has never lacked love, attention or companionship during his years with Lucy, it makes us sad to think of any animal having to live out its entire life in a shelter environment.

Do you have room in your life and in your heart for this wonderful companion? If so, we would love to hear from you!

PPS Pet Of The Day – Teddy

posted by:

Teddy is one of the dogs that has recently joined PPS from Akumal Animal Rescue. He is just over a year old. This little dog is extremely sweet and loving and seems to prefer human company to the doggy kind. Although Teddy gets on well with all the other dogs, he does seem to be a little overwhelmed by shelter life. Also, with his thick coat and long hair (he is possibly a soft Coated Wheaten Terrier cross) he would do well in a cooler climate.

Please contact us if you can give Teddy a loving, forever home.

A message from Akumal Animal Rescue

posted by:

As many of you know, after living in Akumal for nearly 15 years, and rescuing dogs, cats and other beasties for the entire time, I am pulling up my roots and moving back to the USA! I am of course, taking a whole gaggle of dogs and cats with me…but I’m unable to take the entire zoo! Andy and Jen from Peanut Pet Shelter have stepped in and offered to care for some dogs for me until loving families can be found for them! They are wonderful people and are doing great things at their Playa del Carmen shelter and their new cat haven!

Please take a look at these great dogs still looking for homes at my website, www.akumalanimalrescuefund.com, or at Peanut’s, www.peanutpetshelter.org !

Peanut Pet Shelter needs YOUR support, so please…go to their Saturday dog washes! Fall in love with an animal and bring it home! If you are unable to give a needy animal a home, please consider monthly sponsorship. Sponsorship can mean the difference between life and death for a needy homeless animal. Please donate items and donate money so Andy and Jen can keep up this important work for the animals. Thank you!

Lucy James

The following dogs are all from Akumal Animal Rescue.

PPS Pet Of The Day – Becky

posted by:

Becky is our PPS Pet of the day. She is a two and a half year old Jack Russell terrier mix. Becky has been with the shelter for a year now and she would love to have a new, loving, forever home of her own! She is very tiny…..perfect to take back to the U.S. or Canada as carry-on!

Sola

posted by:

This is little Sola. I found her yesterday lying at the side of a dusty road in El Ejido with her head resting on an empty beer bottle. She is around three and a half weeks old and weighs just nine ounces.

She won’t drink from a bottle and hates being syringe fed, so she is currently mastering the art of drinking without drowning!
